Here are some examples of the types of wordplay in the book.
Anagrams rearrange the letters in one word to make another word: LEAF -becomes- FLEA CORK -becomes- ROCK CONE -becomes- ONCE.
Palindromes are words that are spelled the same way forwards and backwards: PUP -and- KAYAK
Charades bring together two words to make a new word, like GO + OF = GOOF
Containers (or piggyback words) put one word inside another word to form a new word:
ARROW into NEST = NARROWEST
There are 20 chapters covering how words look and sound, plus 7 chapters about word meanings. A special section at the back of the book introduces readers to double wordplay. Watch out! It's tricky.
